Deon-Ville O'Hara, more popularly known as 'ZJ Wah Wa', has inked a booking deal with Juke Boxx Productions. Juke Boxx, which is spearheaded by producer Shane Brown, also manages reggae artistes Romain Virgo and Tarrus Riley.
Brown told THE STAR that Juke Boxx takes pride in honing new talents.
"Wah Wa approached me with the idea for a booking deal some time ago, and we seriously considered this because Juke Boxx has a well-equipped booking department. Wah Wa is a young man with ambition, vision and good ideas that needed structure. He showed an interest in learning more about the reggae genre, which was a major selling point to me," Brown said.
Brown added that once approached by talented artistes, selectors, musicians, etc, Juke Boxx Productions will always consider them.
"Just as how singers/deejays need direction, it's the same with disc jocks, they need proper structure to be marketed. The company nurtures talent which, by extension, helps the industry. As a former selector myself, I'm always willing and open to helping new talents," he said.
Wah Wa told THE STAR that he is pleased with the partnership.
"Brown and I share mutual goals as it relates to the music industry. I will definitely be representing for Juke Boxx wherever I go and give reggae more strength not only in Jamaica but also in the rest of the world. It's not like I'm saying that I'll only be doing reggae, but more focus will be on reggae because Juke Boxx is mainly a reggae entity," he said.
Wah Wa is expected to release a new mixtape titled The Chronicles of ZJ Wah Wa Chapter 5: Hamma Business, along with a documentary about his life.
"The mixtape will feature some exclusives from Romain Virgo, Tarrus Riley, Konshens, Kartel and others. The documentary will give fans an inside view on my life and my growth in the business. It's basically a look inside where I'm coming from and where I'm going," he said.
