First off, what is a Mixtape?

A mixtape is a compilation of songs organized together which can be played uninterrupted from start to finished which are blended together, which is called mixing of songs. Sometimes the songs are of the same beat also known as riddim, the majority of the times they aren't.

There are different types of Reggae Mixtapes:

Dancehall Reggae Music artists sometimes released what is called an EP and label it as a mixtape.   An EP is an edited version of an album.  What's the difference between an album and an EP?

The maximum amount of tracks that can be found on an EP are six or seven, while and an album can have a minimum of nine tracks.

Copyrights Issues With Mixtapes

Youtube one of the most popular platform on which you can listen to a mix, but did you know that it's actually illegal to post mixtapes with for which you are not the owner of the music on any music sharing platform? yes, it is.

While a deejay can do a mixtape and upload to any music sharing platform for free listening and gets away, If he started selling that same mixtape online he is liable to be sued by another of the artist's whose music is on that mix.

So why is Reggae Music Mixtapes so popular one might ask? A mix tends to have only popular songs on its track-list. It can also sometimes extended to an hour an fifteen minutes in length.  The amount tracks on a mixtape varies.

A mixtape can have as little as twenty tracks and a maximum of 60 tracks.  On most mixtapes, a song is only played for a minute and thirty seconds.
