The popular World Clash series returns in 2012, after a 1 year absent.
World Clash returns on Easter Monday April 9, 2012 at Pier 1, Montego Bay, Jamaica.
After a one-year hiatus, the popular 'World Clash' series returns for Easter this year in Montego Bay and New York.To celebrate its 15th anniversary in the business, Caribbean entertainment and promotions company Irish and Chin is taking it back to where it all started with its 'World Clash' series.
Die-hard sound-clash fans will get a massive dose of World Clash with stagings set for New York on Saturday, April 7 and in Montego Bay on Easter Monday, April 9. Plans are also under way for a restaging of U.K., Cup Clash in England later this year as well. As the flagship event in the sound-clash industry, World Clash attracted tens of thousands of people during the decade that it was held in the US, Jamaica, England, Antigua and Canada.
"Everything that our company has been afforded, thus far, can be accredited to the tremendous achievements of the World Clash brand," said Garfield 'Chin' Bourne of Irish and Chin in a release sent to The STAR. "World Clash is our signature event, which opened doors locally and internationally for us to become respected as a force in the industry... we could not possibly celebrate our 15 years of accomplishments without re-staging this event!"
lost its hypeIrish and Chin was at the forefront of sound-clash culture for more than a decade. After the final stagings of World Clash in New York (Game Over - 2007), England (U.K.
Cup Clash - 2008 w/Reggae Girls Promotions), and Jamaica (World Clash Jamaica - 2010), the arena lost its hype and many fans drifted.
Fans have expressed how they truly miss the larger-than-life presence of World Clash in the arena. Immediately following the World Clash announcement on last week's Sound Chat Radio, bids to be on the line-up from sounds poured in. As Irish and Chin crafts super line-ups for World Clash Weekend, they are confident World Clash will be a historic moment for the sound-clash arena, while serving as a perfect anniversary celebration.
"We are hoping that the staging of the World Clash series in 2012 ignites the global interest arena which once governed the sound-clash, Bourne said.
"Although we are not committing ourselves to 2013 stagings, we would love to see the sound-clash sport continue to prosper, ultimately reaching a higher level than that of World Clash."
Irish and Chin is thrilled that their partnership has been able to stand the test of time, allowing their company to remain relevant in the dancehall industry for 15 years. Through hard work, solid promotions and concepts, Irish and Chin has consistently produced high-calibre events.
However, the series is not guaranteed for 2013. We are hoping the staging of the World Clash series in 2012 ignites the global interest, which once governed the sound-clash arena. "Although we are not committing ourselves to 2013 stagings, we would love to see the sound-clash sport continue to prosper, ultimately reaching a higher level than that of World Clash," said Bourne in the release.
