Who created Reggae Music? Or we should ask, who started the Reggae music genre? It has been established that Reggae music started back in the early 1960s, but by who?
In 2019 we came across the name Ras Cardo while doing some in-depth research as to who is founding the father of Reggae.
Ras Cardo is from the community of Trench Town, Kingston, Jamaica. This is the same community that Bob Marley sings about in his world-renown track titled "Trench Town Rock".
According to Ras Cardo who is a teacher by profession, he was a close friend and confidant of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Joe Higgs and all the original Trench Town Reggae legends.
Ras Cardo who released a book titled "Reggae Jamaica - The Wailing of a People: Ras Cardo, the Man, the Legend of Reggae Music" claims that he is Reggae's highest authority who has the only true detailed history.
So Who created Reggae Music? Ras Cardo said that Reggae Music was created in 1962 in his Trench Town Backyard.
Until now, we all knew that Reggae legends Bob Marley and the Wailers is without a doubt responsible for taking Reggae music international.
Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff must also be given credit for the role he played in the Movie "Harder They Come".
Ras Cardo has also laid claimed to "Reggae" as it has been Copyrighted by him.
