Veteran Dancehall and Reggae Music artiste Lloyd D Stiff
It was a great day in history when the world saw the birth of Lloyd Moore Jr. in Kingston, Jamaica. Music was grateful to at that moment taken another welcoming hostage as Lloyd would tell you music chose him. Lloyd took on the name Lloyd ‘D’ Styff in the 80s and went into the reggae/ dancehall field been motivated by the likes of; JOHNNY RINGO, ECHO GENERAL, RANKING JOE, DENNIS BROWN, JACOB MILLER, BOB MARLEY, RANKING TOYAN just to name a few. These were some solid and inspirational acts in the industry.
In the 80s, Lloyd migrated to the United States; Brooklyn, New York to be exact. While there it was hard for Lloyd to get away from the dancehall fever as it was very prominent in this area. It was not in his parents’ good book to go this route but as any focused determined person would do, he stood his grounds. He ensured that he maintained a good average in school to please his parents but also focused on perfecting his craft.
In that time he met Phillip Brian aka Dark Vader who was his biggest influence yet in the business. Dark Vader was an area dj who was versatile and skilled. The two became friends and formed their own crew by the name of 'Space Warriors'. Lloyd’s first mentionable song was dubbed “JAMAICAN GIRLS”. This song went into motion because it was done as
a tribute to a friend ‘Phillip Brian’ who was killed. The song was actually composed by Brian and Lloyd along with other members of the team; each took a song of his and put into action. Gyassi Addi was the producer who took Lloyd into the studio. Since then, Lloyd’s gave us songs such as BOOM BOOM FATTY; one of his most successful song yet, SKIN TO SKIN, BAD TALK, NUH LEF YUH CONDOM another successful song because of the AIDS onset in the 80s and many more great hits.
Lloyd has recently taken on the name Mr. Styff and his latest song is dubbed BUMPA ROLL and latest projects to date are his mixtapes ‘UNFINISHED BUSINESS & BIG PEOPLE SITTEN’ receiving finishing touches. It has not been that great in the industry as Lloyd has undergone cheaters and liars trying to get to the top. There have been obstacles and road blocks and you easily find out who is with you and who is not in the game. Some are only present for the money. Along with being an artiste, Lloyd is also hosts a tv program on Reggae Plus Tv and he is eyeing acting as well. With all being said, this artiste is destined to give his fans what they seek and that is positive and fun music so, watch out for this strong, self-motivated, smart, fun-loving and easy-going individual as he strives for the best.
