Transporta Takes Aim At Dancehall With 'She Likes Me'
PRISM MARKETING CONSULTANTS || MAY 06, 2015 || After years of honing his craft, Florida based Dancehall artiste ‘Transporta’ is finally ready to make his official entrance onto the Jamaican music scene. The artiste whose given name is Marlon McKen says he wants to take his ambitions of becoming a global superstar to that next level hence the renewed thrust for 2015.
The Jamaican born singer/songwriter became interested in music at an early age after watching his uncle, a former Dancehall aspirant perform at several live shows. A few years later he relocated to the U.S and began dabbling into the artform with serious considerations towards a professional career.
At age 19 acting upon the advice of a close friend Transporta decided to join a rock and roll band ‘Nepture 66’, but it wasn’t until he met his musical partner Philippe Trackman that things began to flourish. In 2008 he won the Battle of the MCs, a popular talent show staged in Miami, Florida.
Armed with a nice hook and a catchy beat Transporta released his first official single titled ‘I Wanna Dance With You’ in 2012 to much fanfare. The EDM influenced beat mixed with carefully crafted synthesized harmonies resulted in an explosive track that soon had partygoers working up a sweat on the Florida club circuit. The overnight success of the song resulted in an official video being shot which has garnered in excess of 113,000+ views on the VEVO network since it premiered and almost 500,000 views on Youtube and continues to steadily grow.
The video has been featured on several prominent cable networks in Jamaica including HYPE-TV and RETV subsequent to that he secured interviews on popular media outlets such as TVJ’s Entertainment Prime and Suzie Q’s Video Alley Top Ten Countdown.
Come 2015 Transporta has shifted from the dance genre and has set his focus on the Dancehall game in what he describes as going back to his roots. If the success of ‘I Wanna Dance With You’ is indicative of what’s to come then Dancehall fans are in for a musical treat as the upcoming star prepares to release his first Dancehall offering titled, ‘She Likes Me’
According to Transporta, “Everywhere I go people say I am the life of the party so fans can definitely expect a lot of great things from me in 2015.”
