After a disappointing turnout at a stage show in Trinidad, Tommy Lee Sparta is said to have redeemed himself at a recent stage show in Suriname.
Tommy Lee's publicist, Keona Williams, had blamed his flopped Trinidad show on poor promotions. however, this time around, she says, all engines were turning in favour of the artiste.
According to Williams, it was a feeling of redemption.
"It's a great feeling to know his concert brought out so many supporters. For him to go to another country and pull a Sumfest-size crowd on his own is a major accomplishment," she told THE STAR.
As for Tommy Lee, the experience was good and he felt welcomed by the citizens of Suriname.
"Suriname welcome mi, from mi land everywey mi go, everywey mi turn, a bay Sparta dem a say. Mi music a play ova de whole place and dem into dancehall music. Mi feel proud fi represent and keep the music current through the Caribbean," the deejay said.
One of only three artistes remaining in Vybz Kartel's Gaza camp, Tommy Lee Sparta is currently on his European tour where he is expected to perform at several events.
"Right now, mi just left Holland and de people dem know mi song dem and dem come out to the show. Today, mi just reach a France. Mi have a couple shows here before me go Switzerland. So de tour a gwaan well. I am looking forward to being back in the UK, also the big German festival, Ruhr on May 10, that will be my biggest event to date," he said.
The artiste is gearing up to release two EPs in coming weeks. one will feature the darker side of his persona while the other will expose his fans to a more jovial demeanour.
"The new single Captain Sparta got over 120,000 views in one week and is bringing in new opportunities. He is the first Jamaican dancehall artiste to be booked for a 'children only' event in Sweden. A lot more will come from this Captain Sparta project, and, as soon as we have confirmations, we will be ready to announce," Williams said.
