Reggae Artiste Tom Laing happy with career

New York-based reggae singer Tom Laing is pleased about the progress of his career.

The Trench Town-born entertainer, who has been living in the United States since the late 1970s, has become a major force on the New York reggae scene.

Over the last four years, he has asserted his dominance by scoring several number-one hits, including Belly of the Beast, featuring Capleton; One More Thing, Finally Free; and Front Door.

His debut EP, Love Is Ok, was released last summer by VP Records. The title track brought him much success when it was subsequently released as a single.

The Donni Marshall-produced track, which features British-born singer Myrrh-cedez Gayle, topped reggae charts worldwide.

"I'm truly humbled by the success that I've achieved in my career, and I give thanks to Jah for everything. I feel very good about the way things are going. My career has grown tremendously over the last few years," said Laing.

The easy-going artiste is confident that he has another hit on his hands with his new single, Prayer. The gospel-tinged track which is the second single off the EP, was released in June.

Since then, it has enjoyed strong rotation on several top local radio stations, including IRIE and HITZ 92 FMs.

"Prayer is doing well. I'm getting a lot of positive feedback about it. From all indications, this song is hit-bound," said the artiste.

Laing plans to visit Jamaica before the end of the summer to shoot a video for Prayer.
