Born as Nastassja Hammond to reggae royalty, The Wixard is the daughter of Reggae giant Beres Hammond. At the tender age of six years old, The Wixard started singing harmonies to every song she heard in the studio from her father and on the radio and made her first beat at the age of 10.At the age of 17, The Wixard’s production and songwriting skills caught the ear of her cousin, reggae star Courtney John, who was so intrigued by what he heard that he immediately started mentoring and working with her. The Wixard has produced and remixed for superstars Nelly Furtado, Michael Franti, and Fefe Dobson, as well as many of reggae’s greats such as Beenie Man & MarciaGriffiths.
2011 was a major year for The Wixard as she scored and produced 26 songs for Season 2 of the Caribbean’s number 1 dance show IN THE DANCE as well as having the show’s top dance track “Watch It” synced to MTV’s Top rated TV show The Jersey Shore.
The Wixard co-wrote and produced 7 tracks for Canadian pop star Kreesha Turner’s sophomore album Tropic Electric, and was the only female producer featured on superstar Paulia Rubio’s Latin Billboard number 1 album Brava. The Wixard has teamed up with Walshy Fire of Major Lazer to produce an album for the Jamaican reggae outfit Nomaddz that is scheduled to release in early 2019.
Jesse David Leroi Grey, aka Jesse Royal, began his career with and was mentored by the late Fatis Burrell (the son of whom’s high school Royal attended), who also produced Jesse’s first two releases, Singing the Blues and Long Days and Short Nights in 2010.
Jesse Royal is on of the leaders of the pack in what has been dubbed Jamaica’s modern day ‘reggae revival’ and was mentioned as such by Vogue Magazine who document the movement movement in 2015. In 2017 he recorded the album Lily of da Valley, which was released by Easy Star Records in October and topped the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.
