by Miss Tamara Cuthbert (Tamoy)
(Jamaica & U.S.A)
When you hear the name Tenza, what comes to mind?
Jahseen Foster is originally from the community of Kempshot in the
city of Montego Bay, Jamaica. Being lonely was never an issue as she is from a big family of fifteen; nine brothers and five sisters. While the family was great in numbers and provided a sense of protection and prevented loneliness, it brought disappointment and struggles.
Foster migrated to the town of Slough located in the United Kingdom at the age of fourteen and this wasn’t easy as she now left her great big family plus other friends to now start all over in both social and development life. Eventually she made new friends and music through the blessings of the Slough Youth Centre music classes became her best friend.
Always having that passion for music, artistes such as Bob Marley, Yellow Man, Beres Hammond, Bounty Killer, Denis Brown, Lady Saw, Super Cat and Beenie Man were the hope she hang onto. Going by the name Tenza which was given to her by family because she was the tenth child the diva was now moving forward for higher heights.
Not an easy road but with determination, Tenza became a member of the formerly Def Jam signed female dancehall group “FYA”. They gave us songs like “TOO HOT” and “MUST BE LOVE” which reached gold record sales. Tenza went toward her solo career, leaving FYA in 2009 and started her own record label TMD Records. Since then she gave us songs like “ Ready Back” “Wicked Like Me” and “ Pon Dem
Endz Again” plus many plus various Eps and promotional mixtapes.
She has not only been working with top European producers but top Jamaican producers as well, as she pushes her career as a solo career as a sing-jay in the music industry, so far her music has been getting heavy rotation on a number of Internet, FM and digital radios plus being featured on a number of mixed tapes and other compilation Cd's around the world.
