Sound System Operator in Canada and New York upset over fake (Spliced Dubplates)
by DHRW
(Jamaica)
Beware of persons who will tell you they can get you Dubplates (Specials) for your sound system or Disc Jocks.
Recently it was brought to Dancehall Reggae World that a number of Djs and Sound Systems from Canada were scammed out of cash after they paid for dubplates from top dancehall artists but got fake dubs which are also called "Spliced" dubs.
Unique Sounds out of Canada lost $600 CAD, after they were contacted by someone from an upcoming artiste by the name of Versi Rhyme camp saying that they can get them three (3) Popcaan duplates for $600 CAD.
After the dubs were received it was discovered that they were fake (Spliced). Reports are that after it was pointed out to the person who sent the dubs, the person deleted all contacts via BBM with Unique Sounds.
We contacted Versi Rhyme and he said that he knew about the scam but he wasn't the one who did it. He said he gave some of his links (Friends) some Black Berry phones to do promotional work for him and this is where it might have happened. The email which was used to send the fake dubplates is versirhyme@yahoo.com.
Unique Sounds was not the only one who got 6 for a 9 as Itonic Hi Power was also given a raw deal for the same person.
Dancehall Reggae world has since obtain a copy of a fake Chronixx dub which was sent to Itonic Hi Power.
Information received by us is that it was sent from the same email address listed above.
Earlier this year A sound system owner was scammed out of more than 1200 Euro by someone who said they were affiliated with dancehall artiste Mr Vegas. READ FULL STORY HERE
