SHARE 1 LOVE
The Marley Family, along with Videoo, a collaborative platform to collect and curate social video playlists, officially launched its #Share1Love movement on February 6th, Bob Marley’s 70th birthday. The purpose of #Share1Love is to honor Bob Marley’s vision of a better tomorrow by uniting the world through acts of love and uniting generations of fans to show how they bring love to the world, while simultaneously igniting a feel good social video movement.
#Share1Love, movement asks participants to upload videos of them physically showing “how they share love and kindness with the world,” and then challenging others to do the same by ending the video with their index finger pointed at camera, and declaring “Share One Love!”. The first videos was launched by Marley family members Ziggy Marley, Rohan Marley and Sharon Marley.
For every person who uploads a video, Videoo will donate $1 to help charity:water bring clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations. Videos can be uploaded to
bobmarley.com/share1love using the hashtag #Share1Love. For more information about the campaign, as well as upload instructions, please visit bobmarley.com/share1love
Year Long Celebration
Over the course of the year, Bob Marley’s legacy will be remembered by new releases of rare and unreleased material as well as fan favorite deluxe editions of his most memorable work. The first release will be available on February 17. BOB MARLEY & THE WAILERS – EASY SKANKING IN BOSTON ’78, features two historic live shows from Boston’s Music Hall, June 8, 1978. This new and unreleased performance is from the Marley family giving unprecedented access for
the first time to their personal material from their private collections and vaults. The album will be available on blu-ray/cd combo pack as well as dvd/cd and standalone cd versions. Additional newly created animated material will also be a part of this release, marking the first time the family has incorporated this technology into any official Marley releases. Highlights of the performance include a lively “Jammin’” and “The Heathen,” a song Marley and the band didn’t perform during the second set. The show features them at their most comfortable, truly enjoying themselves in the spotlight, basking in the appreciation of the audience.
In celebration of Marley’s birthday, Tuff Gong International released “So Much Things to Say,” a rare thirty-five minute interview with Bob Marley from 1973, by legendary Jamaican DJ and journalist Neville Willoughby. The interview was recorded in Jamaica upon Marley’s return from the Burnin’ album tour in the U.S. and UK. The recording, combined with background tracks, has been digitally remastered and re-edited by Marley’s wife, Rita, and their daughter, Cedella Marley.
