Reggae Singer Ginjah lashes out against child molesters
Reggae singer Ginjah is not afraid to tackle social issues with his music.
He recently released a thought-provoking single titled Pedophile on the Young Veterans Production imprint, in which he lashes out against child molesters.
Ginjah said he recorded the song to encourage the government and law-enforcement agencies to be more aggressive in dealing with the alarming issue of child abuse.
"Every day I turn on the radio I hear reports about children being sexually abused and killed. I'm a father of three children and I am very concerned about these things. I would love to see the government take stronger measures to deal with this matter. This child abuse thing is getting out of hand," said the artiste.
Pedophile was released two months ago. Since then, it has been enjoying heavy rotation on a number of top local radio stations.
"The support for the song is growing; it's getting a lot of attention in the streets. So far, I have given away more than 5,000 copies of it across the island. I hope the powers that be will hear it and take action," said Ginjah.
Ginjah recently performed in St Lucia and Suriname. He has a series of shows in Dubai. "I'm looking forward to perform for my fans in Dubai. I've performed in that country before when I was Beres Hammond's opening act, and it was an awesome experience."
