Reggae Music Legends Inner Circle Have Teamed Up with SKIO Music to Host a Remix Contest for their Hit Song Tenement Yard
Reggae music legends, Inner Circle, have teamed up with SKIO Music to host a remix contest for their hit song "Tenement Yard". The 1976 original recording of this track features the smooth vocals of the great Jacob Miller and is recognized as one of the group's classic tunes. The recent re-release of "Tenement Yard" has brought new life to the song, featuring additional vocals by Chronnixx, and can be perceived as a tribute to the late Jacob Miller who was taken from us in an untimely car accident in 1980.
The Jamaican bred, Grammy winning quintet, is one of the world's most respected reggae groups, with a long history of successes stretching back to the mid-1970's! Inner Circle has maintained their unique blend of pop-oriented Jamaican beats and energy that made them leaders of the reggae movement. These true legends have played at many of the world's largest music festivals, and headlined alongside such pop and rock icons as Elton John, Van Morrison, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Carlos Santana, and many others.
Recent collaborations by Inner Circle include a remix of Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg's "Young Wild and Free" featuring Bizerk and I-Octane, which reached over 3 million views on Youtube. More recently, in May of 2014, the young producers and artists Chronixx, Steven McGregor, Don Corleone and Supa Dups assembled at Circle House Studios. Chronnix is the latest talent to collaborate with the Miami based reggae veterans. He sang the lyrics to Tenement Yard with Miller's distinctive vocals from the original recording in the background. According to Lewis, "Jacob would be very happy... It's a perfect bridge of past and present."
Now Inner Circle giving a whole new generation of musicians, producers and artists the opportunity to collaborate with them, and pay tribute to the great Jacob Miller. The winning submission will be released on a Tenement Yard remixes EP by Warner Music Group. Show these reggae music legends what you've got and submit your best remix!
