Reggae festivals play a huge role in the Reggae music fraternity, this is also where recording artists get their chance to interact with their fans.

Although Reggae music was originated in Jamaica, there are only two major Reggae music festivals which are held annually on the island.

These are the world-renown Reggae Sumfest which is held annually in the summer at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Complex, Montego Bay, St James and Rebel Salute which is held at the Rich Man Estate, Priory St Ann, Jamaica.

Jamaica also had Reggae Sunsplash and Sting, both of which has been postponed due to lack of sponsorship.

Most of the world's biggest Reggae festivals are held in the summer annually.

One of the biggest Reggae Festival in Europe is the Rototom Sunsplash. This festival was established in 1994 and is held in Valencia, Spain every summer. Rototom Sunsplash attracts hundreds of Thousand of Reggae music lover from all over the world annually.

The oldest Reggae Festival in Europe is Reggae Geel it takes place in Geel, Belgium. It typically starts on the first Friday of August, with reggae deejays and sound systems, followed by the main festival on the following Saturday. Reggae Geel is the oldest Reggae festival in Europe.

One of the biggest Reggae Music festivals in the United States of America is the "9 Mile Music Festival". 9 Mile Music Festival, also known as The Marley Fest, began in 1993 as a musical testament to the world-renowned artist Bob Marley.

The festival was founded by Marley's mother, Cedella, as a tribute to her late son to spreading the messages of peace, love and unity.
