Terry Gajraj is a chutney and chutney-soca artist from Guyana, a former British colony and only English speaking country in South America.
Gajraj was born in the village of Fyrish and he is the eldest of three children and son of a school teacher. At the age of 5 he began performing with the Dil Bahar Orchestra then went on to work with the Star Rhythm Combo, the Original Pioneers, and the Melody Makers. Inspired by Sundar Popo and the increasing popularity of chutney music, he decided to pursue a career in music.
After working as part of local bands, he launched a solo career in 1990 with his first release SOCA LAMBADA. In the year 1992 Gajraj made a local hit with the song "Tun Tun Dance" followed by "Guyana Baboo" in 1994. He have been recording, performing and touring continuously over the years representin' his homeland Guyana, his culture and chutney music worldwide.
Dignitery - A Dancehall Reggae artist who also hails from Guyana teamed up with Terry Gajraj to collaborate on a Reggae / Bollywood fusion song titled "Dheere Dheere Kuch To" set to be released August 2021 by Muzik-Matic Records.
Studio Production for the record was done by Bunty Singh and BKVJ studio in Guyana. This is definitely a collaboration and song to look out for : TERRY GAJRAJ & DIGNITERY "Dheere Dheere Kuch To".
