QQ Overdose During Jack Hammer Tour
Starting his career at age 9, Reggae artist QQ is the youngest entertainer to come out of Jamaica. Fast forward twelve years, the Kingston born songjay continues to take giant strides toward super stardom.
QQ recently made headlines in publications XXL, Fader, The Source and Thisis50.com when he launched his 2015 college tour titled JACK HAMMER. The tour was named after his 2014 hit single featured on VP Records’ Reggae compilation album Reggae Gold 2014.
The college tour, already in full swing, started March 13th at New York University. The schedule includes performances at Morrisville University, Northeast University and Oswego University to name a few. During his tour, QQ will debut his latest single ‘Overdose’ which is set for release April 7th . Onstage, He will be accompanied by DJ Joe Young and DJ Star. The tour will end on May 9th at a surprize location in Toronto, Canada.
Many in the Reggae community believe the new single ‘Overdose’ will further position QQ as the next great reggae superstar. That said, QQ has long impacted the music industry with his 2006 hit single “Stukie” which dominated the airwaves in over 17 countries. The song sparked one of the hottest reggae dance moves also titled Stukie.
The Stukie dance has been emulated by some of Hip-Hop and RnB’s most notable megastars including Missy Elliot and Beyonce. In 2013, QQ showed the world his new song and dance which were both named “One Drop”. During Beyonce’s 2014 On the Run Tour , QQ’s One Drop dance was subtly weaved into her choreography performance. To date, “One Dro_p” remains an influence in Reggae, Hip-Hop, and RnB music.
According to his fans, QQ’s nostalgic musical sound is a mixed of Shaggy with a splash of Buju Banton. His swagger and style is reminiscent of a young Sammy Davis Junior. Although very much original, QQ encompasses the true core of Reggae and good music. Checkout QQ’s new Single ‘Overdose’ Tuesday, April 7th on i-tunes.
