Roots Reggae artiste Nastic Official Biography

On the 26th of January 1978, a star was born to Annora Nelson and Paul Smith.

Jason Smith the eldest of 5 children and the only boy of Annora Nelson, and the youngest of four (4) children and also the only boy of Paul Smith.

Born in Heartese District, Yallahs, St.Thomas, Jason Smith (Nastic) attended the Heartease Basic School,Yallahs Primary School and finally Yallahs High School. During his High School days he became interested in music. His friends found out that he had a "voice for music" and motivated him to continue and persue this art. He started to apply his singing talent at youth club and school concerts where the responses from the audience were excellent.

Under the stage name Rason, he entered the popular talent show in Jamaica, Digicel Rising Stars as a (duo) Rason and Razor Blade in 2005.

They made it in the top ten. This was a turning point for Rason, as the exposure he received from this competition brought him notice to the public.

In 2008 a mutual friend Fitzroy Hamilton introduced Rason to Adis Ababa Records, working with him through this label, that’s when he was given the name Nastic. He recorded three (3) singles: Rasta Music, Mama, and This Love where they received airplay.

Nastic then worked with David McFarlene (producer) at the Queste Studio and Fitzroy Hamilton (manager/CEO) under the label King Hamilton Production.

Currently Nastic is working on his EP to be released later this year 2015, a music video for his single “My Soul”.

Following his personal guidelines under a strong Rastafarian Influence, Nastic believes that life has all answers as long as one is truly in tuned with nature. His endeavor is to “Do his best” and “Anything is possible”.
