Montari Dancehall/Reggae Music Newest Sing-Jay
Montari Dancehall/Reggae's Newest Singjay,Say hello to Dancehall/Reggae’s newest sing-jay Yohance Demorris Smith, otherwise known as Montari. The Clarendon born newcomer hails from a musically inclined family with a father that played the bass guitar and siblings that play various instruments for bands across Jamaica.
But the sing-jay didn’t always have a passion for music. He spent his earlier years playing football for various schools and clubs across the island. Upon graduating from his alma mater Glenmiur High School, unsure of his future steps, he enrolled to Ebony Park H.E.A.R.T Academy where he studied and completed courses in ornamental horticulture and landscaping, which became a passion for him.It was while at Ebony Park that his interest in music was sparked.
It started with innocent experimental recordings that his friends listened to and later on encouraged him to take seriously.Soon after, Montari left his hometown and moved to Kingston in 2008, where he joined the Arnette Gardens football team. It was during the breaks that he would showcase his singing and deejaying talents to his teammates who were impressed, and pushed him to take the chance at starting his musical career.
He eventually acted on the advice given to him, and in 2010 joined forced with Dream-maker from Y-Not Productions; a production company based in France. He has since then, done demos and started promotions on various social media sites to get his
name and music known by the masses.
Through his promotions he was recognized by a number of local and
international producers such as V.I. Productions and Evidence Records. He even managed to ignite the interest of a few producers in Africa.
Montari is now back home creating magic in the studio with Truckback Records and Lock-City Music Group. They have already released a few singles of his, such as She Believe Mi, Gyal Dem Song and Suffer, to name a few.Montari is now hoping to take his career another step further by finding a professional management team and by working with well-known producers.
“Music is very important to me; I take it very seriously. I write my own lyrics and am confident in my abilities. I believe that music is life, and that is what I aim to deliver to the people. One thing that I am proud of is that my music promotes positive messages that everyone can relate to.” With the hope of going down in history as one of Jamaica’s greatest Dancehall and Reggae artistes; Montari is not shy about putting in the work and isn’t afraid to pull out the stops to bring his dreams to light.
