wo of the music world’s emerging superstars will be thrust into the spotlight at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Complex in Montego Bay as American R&B singer, Miguel and Reggae sensation, Chronixx will headline International Night 2 of Reggae Sumfest 2013.
Miguel, whose hit single Adorn won this year’s Grammy Award for Best R&B Song will make his maiden trip to Jamaica for the show. Adorn, a soulful rendition of Marvin Gaye’s classic single, Sexual Healing topped the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop charts and was the feature track on his successful sophomore album, Kaleidoscope Dream, released last September.
Also known for hits such as Sure Thing, Do You and Where's The Fun In Forever, Miguel has been associated with Jamaican music before as Dancehall superstar, Konshens remixed his Adorn single last summer. Earlier this month, Miguel featured alongside Mariah Carey for her new single, Beautiful, which already has made waves on several charts in the U.S.
"Sumfest patrons can expect to be wowed by the young artiste's striking vocals and alluring stage presence, while rocking to the sounds of his eclectic LPs," said Sumfest organizers, Summerfest Productions in a media release.
Meanwhile, Chronixx will also perform on Reggae Sumfest’s final night, marking his second major stage show performance in the island. After dominating 2012 with hits such as Warrior, Behind Curtain and They Don’t Know, Chronixx delivered a well-received set at STING 2012 last Christmas and is set to debut at Sumfest this summer. 2013 has seen the singer continue his blistering form with Smile Jamaica and Beat and a Mic.
Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley, who was regarded by many media outlets as last year’s top performer at Sumfest will also headline closing night while Dancehall stars, Popcaan, Aidonia and Kiprich as well as Reggae star, Tarrus Riley have also been confirmed for the show.
Now in its 21st year, Reggae Sumfest will take place from July 21-27. Early bird tickets for the show are now available online through Touchstone Ticketing, the official ticketing stub for the festival.
Reggae Sumfest is sponsored by Digicel Jamaica, Iberostar, Secrets Resorts, Red Stripe, Pepsi and the Jamaica Tourist Board.
