Jamaica's top Dancehall and Reggae music talent show "Magnum Kings Queens of Dancehall" for 2010 has just ended with Bumpa being crowned as the queen and "Reggae Queen" came 2nd.
For the King title "Press Fyah" won and "juggla" came 2nd. There are also a bit of controversy regarding the queen in which it is said that Bumpa only won because Reggae Queen violate some of the terms of the broadcasting commission on a previous show.
She actually said that she was penalize by the producers of the show because of this, which the producers have since denied.
This show is geared towards giving young upcoming talent a start in their musical career. The winners receive $1,000,000.00 plus other prizes.
This was the 4th staging..2009 winners were Poor and Boasty and Baby Tash.
Perfect 10 years for Magnum Kings and Queen
Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall is back for its 10th season and ready to 'tek charge' of the milestone. Magnum has put an additional $1 million into the prize pot.
The 2017 winners will each receive $1.5 million, 50 per cent more than the 2016 winners. Tamika West, marketing manager at J. Wray & Nephew is excited about the new season.
"It has been a 'charged' 10 years. We have seen so much growth, from a production standpoint, to the talent that we have on the show year after year so we had to raise the bar yet again, and this time we have increased the cash prize." Hopefuls can begin to prepare as auditions start November 19 at Waves Beach in Negril. The auditions will continue on November 26 at Island Village inside Ocho Rios, then on December 3 at Tolan's Total in May Pen. The auditions move to the HEART Academy in Portmore on December 10 before taking over the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in Kingston on December 17.
This season will see the return of Stone Love's Randy Rich as the resident DJ as the show continues its partnership with Stone Love. The legendary sound system has provided support for the live show series.
"The show is a great flavour for dancehall and it is a tremendous effort in terms of giving exposure to young artistes, and even older artistes, who have been trying but unable to get that big break. There is no limit to what Season 10 will offer," said Winston 'Wee Pow' Powell, CEO of Stone Love.
