Love Star Music Launches label with Gifted and Chosen Riddim
Production duo Love Star Music are the epitome of their Dancehall riddim, appropriately titled “Gifted and Chosen.”
Released in September 2019, the riddim features an array of artistes including Macka Diamond, Pink Boss, Clymaxx and Rasta British.
Featuring 8 songs in all, the riddim gained a bit of notoriety, through the popular reception of Macka Diamond’s track, “Cucumber” which gave the riddim a push in the right direction. As producer Conroy Smith explained, the introduction to the artistes on this project was seamless.
“One of my friends introduced me to Macka and over time, we met most of the other artistes; we decided that we wanted to work together and the rest is history,” he said.
Hailing from St. James and Kingston respectively, Smith and Raeon Cameron came together as two high school friends to form Love Star Music. Currently based in Long Island, New York, the name came about from a music clash the two had.
“I came up with the name after we had little clash and we decided to make it into one group,” Smith explained, “from that point on, Love Star Music started playing all over Long Island.”
In the past 25 years, Love Star Music has evolved, growing from a sound to a trucking company and now, a full fledged record label. They have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of Reggae and dancehall acts, such as Militant Globe Gena, Dezi Boyd, Xkhriag, Jahvante Campbell, I-Militance, Kaos Layalheart, and Real Rich.
With the success of the “Gifted and Chosen” riddim so far, the duo has decided to put their creative chops together once again, to create a second riddim. This project, which is still currently in the works, will be called “2020” and is scheduled for a February release.
The tracks from the “Gifted and Chosen” Riddim are available for streaming and download on major platforms such as iTunes, Amazon Music, YouTube, and Spotify.
