Dancehall artiste Lady Saw has denied allegations that she is refusing to perform at events if fellow dancehall artiste Macka Diamond is also booked. According to Lady Saw's publicist Kaylia Williams, attention-seeking individuals are simply trying to start a controversy to get media attention.
The controversy involving the artistes comes days after Lady Saw's alleged refusal to perform at an event in Grenada which also featured Macka Diamond. Williams confirmed that Lady Saw did not perform at the show, but said her decision was based on a totally different reason.
"Lady Saw didn't perform in Grenada because she wasn't paid her deposit. The promoter met her at the hotel saying she was going to change some money and didn't return until the day of the show, asking Lady Saw to perform. Lady Saw said she didn't handle her business that way and, as a result, she didn't perform," she continued.
"We went to two radio stations in Grenada and we apologised. Promoters, you can't book people for a show then when they turn up you give them Anansi stories. How Macka Diamond came into play with all of that? I don't know," Williams said.
Cancel her flightMacka Diamond conducted a recent interview with popular radio station ZIP FM in which said Lady Saw didn't even want to travel on the same airplane with her.
"I heard that she didn't want to be on the flight with me. The lady had to cancel her flight of £1,100 and reservation and bought her a new ticket to come, because she didn't want to take the same plane with me ... she need likkle God, man," Macka Diamond said.
Kaylia Williams also confirmed that her client was in fact avoiding Macka Diamond; however she maintained that Lady Saw had no problems sharing stage with any artiste.
"She is avoiding Macka Diamond. But that doesn't mean she doesn't want to share the stage with her. It takes two to argue and Lady Saw doesn't want to be embroiled, in any arguments. Macka Diamond and Lady Saw are both booked for Sumfest and she is going to perform. So people who are making up things need to stop telling lies," Williams said.
Macka Diamond is gearing up to release the music video for her Dye Dye follow-up single Twist Me. She is also promoting a new song My Body Calling, produced by Elvis Redwood.
Lady Saw is gearing up for her performance at the upcoming Heineken Heat Wave. She is currently in the US where she is booked for an event in Atlanta.
