Dancehall Reggae or Ragga Music in Johannesburg.
Where can i got to enjoy this great music which was originated on the small island of Jamaica.
When you think of reggae music in Johannesburg these are the names which readily comes to mind, Lucky Dube, Nkulee Dube, Harley and the Rasta Family, Colbert Mukwevho, Rasta Rebels and many others.
In Johannesburg this music is call Ragga, two of their leading Ragga leaders are The Admiral and JahSeed. In Jamaica and the wider caribbean we call them Disc Jocks or Selectors.
Two of the top party spots/Clubs where dancehall and reggae music can be enjoyed in Johannesburg are The Bassline and Tandoor located in Yeoville.
These clubs are not all reggae/dancehall clubs but on the nights dedicated to these genre, you can find these places was packed, the mood exuberant and sweating bodies all over the place.
There is also a town called Mzansi, most if not all said that Ragga, Reggae or Dancehall, which every name it is called by rules here.
In fact, this great music originating out of Jamaica is thriving and has quite a solid following cutting across all classes and races, on a regular basis these patron will converge on these venues to hear their favorite reggae song from certain ragga DJs whose speciality is to spin ragga tunes.
