Hawkeye Drops “Who Dem a Ramp Wid” Video
Seasoned Dancehall artiste Hawkeye has graced the music world with a new music video for his single Who Dem A Ramp Wid.
The video, which was released on the 1st of February, 2020, follows the single's initial release in 2017. It is featured on the Alkaline 7.1 Riddim, produced by veteran music duo, Sly & Robbie.
“Who dem a ramp wid is just another catchy phrase with double meaning. It is a positive term that encourages people, there is no stopping you,” the artiste said, explaining the meaning behind the song.
Directed by Nordia Rose, the video shows Hawkeye being chased by thieves who are trying to snag the briefcase in his hand. The video develops with a twist, when the would-be hoodlums catch the case and find the singer's latest EP inside.
“I was ecstatic about shooting this video as this video because the whole concept was really imaginative and the process was smooth,” Hawkeye stated.
The video was shot in locations across Kingston such as Rock Fort and Downtown; it also features a cameo appearance from Sly. The video also promotes his brand new EP, which is also titled Who Dem A Ramp Wid. When it came to choosing a story line for the video, the singer expressed how important the concept is, as it relates to the song.
“Videos are basically an advertisement, it is putting a visual to the song that shows some character of you, open doors, get a lot of airplay, visual,” he elaborated.
With the single in rotation and the EP still in the works, the singer is currently making moves towards planning appearances on a few upcoming shows.
“I’m still busy in the studio putting in the extra work. I’m also aiming to bring my promotions to the highest level” he said.
Who Dem A Ramp Wid can be purchased and streamed on major platforms online and the music video can be found on YouTube.
