From Australia to Jamaica, Connecting Nattali Rize & Notis Rebel Love
Popular Australian based Urban Roots artiste Nattali Rize has immersed herself musically into a heavy Reggae influence with Notis productions in Jamaica to create the Nattali Rize & Notis project, a world beat, Reggae potpourri that is set to take the world by storm.
Nattali, the front woman for the popular Blue King Brown band in Australia, set her sights on Jamaica and a reggae roots project after meeting noted Drummer Unga Barunga from Notis Productions while he was on tour in Australia with Jimmy Cliff.
The connection with Unga was kismet for Nattali who then began working on her first Solo project with the famed Jamaican Band and label, Notis Productions. The project began as a studio recorded collaboration and has evolved into a complete set that will also be performed live as the artiste embarks on a US festival tour in June 2015. It’s musical history in the making, never have Artistes from these countries collaborated in this way.
“It's not every day you find that kind of connection with musicians you've never met before...in that first meeting we wrote and recorded Rebel Love and set in motion what is now a longer term collaborative project manifested as Nattali Rize & Notis.” Nattali shared.
The Rebel Love single acts as the first release from this collaborative effort and features vocals from fellow musician and emerging artiste Zuggu
Dan who is a member of Protoje’s Indignation band.
The Rebel Love single merges cultures from both the Jamaican Reggae experience and Nattali’s diverse Native American and Samoan heritage. It also speaks about the nature of love and its core foundation, while at the same time capturing the personality of Nattali Rize; a conscious lyricist and musician, one of Australia’s most outspoken artistes and a Rebel in her own right.
“I bring another style with me being from the other side of the Pacific Ocean, when we join these styles together we have created something fresh, new sounds for a new era of rising consciousness on our planet. We have a collective vision to create and deliver this project to our international community and global family.” Nattali added
The official visuals for the Rebel Love Single are also set to be released later this week with an online and Television Video premiere. The artiste will also be appearing on various events in Jamaica including performances on platforms like the recently held Blue Mountain Music Festival.
The Nattali Rize and Notis project will be released in its entirety later this year and will feature collaborations with other noted Reggae talents including Kabaka Pyramid. Nattali & Kabaka joined Notis for an exciting live preview of the conscious collaboration as part of Notis’s Reggae Month showcase performance at Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre last week.
