Distinction. Honor. Respect. - the sheer mention of the word evokes the notion of someone that stands way above and beyond the average. And just like the word he has adopted as his moniker, Prestige's powerful social consciousness, witty nature, and adept song writing ability has cast him in the prestigious position of leading the latest pack of Roots Reggae artists.
Born and Raised in the cozy community of Clarks Town in Trelawny, Lauriston Bruce developed a love of music very early with influences from Jamaican icons Beres Hammond, Dennis Brown, Joseph Hill, Bob Marley, and Country-Western great Kenny Rogers. After gaining a local following through talent showcases and community performances as a high school student, Bruce soon moved to Portmore, one of the hotbeds of Jamaica’s music industry, to hone his singing, deejaying (rapping), and song writing abilities.
