Demarco Kicks Off 2015 on High Note at St. Croix Carnival


PRISM MARKETING CONSULTANTS || JANUARY 6, 2015 || Touted as 2014’s ‘Male Dancehall Artiste of the Year’ by several local and international industry players, recording artiste Demarco has vanquished any intent of slowly down. With the dawning of the New Year the ‘Bun Up Road’ singer has hit the ground running delivering a noteworthy set on New Year’s Day at the North Shore Banquet Hall in Chicago before jetting off to St. Croix for their Christmas Carnival celebrations over the weekend.


Now in its 62nd year the festival themed, ‘A Majestic Scene for Crucian Carnival 2014-2015,’ featured nightly entertainment, local food, crafts, rides and other attractions. Billed as headliner alongside Soca sensations Mr. Killer, Denise Belfone, Claudette Peters, Rupee, Pressure and Tony Rebel; Demarco represented the Reggae/Dancehall genre well and had patrons singing in unison as he unravelled an almost hour-long set spanning his catalogue of classics interspersed with new hits such as ‘Good Book’, ‘Apartment’, ‘Bun Up Road’ and the now viral ‘Puppy Tail’ all to the delight of the thousands in attendance.

According to President of St. Croix Carnival - Davidson Charlemagne, "It's really not an easy thing to compete with other locations at this time of the year, but we made some great contacts over the years and have been able to secure some hot names like Demarco in the Caribbean entertainment scene,"

The four day festival culminated on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at the Festival Village.

Speaking with members of the St. Croix media following his performance a seemingly gratified Demarco said,

“2014 was a very challenging year for me, there were a lot of positives and some disheartening moments as well, but collectively they help to build and mould me into becoming stronger. Lastly, I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the organisers and people of St. Croix for their hospitality, I thoroughly enjoyed performing for them.”

Meanwhile, back in Jamaica amid preparations for his upcoming tour of the United Kingdom, Demarco has released the seventeenth (17th) instalment of his very popular online series ‘TALK YUH MIND’ which can be seen on his official Youtube Channel (Youtube.com/demarcolife) accompanied by his first official single for the New Year dubbed ‘Real Thugs’. Produced by ZJ Ice’s Thirty Six Degrees Recordings the song features ‘RHOGUE’ the red-headed bombshell and newest addition to the True Gift Entertainment (TGE) family.
