Dancehall meets Afrobeats as Konshens & Kerwin Dubois collaborate with Ayo Jay, Young D & Timaya on 'Shabba'
Dancehall Meets Afrobeats As Konshens And Kerwin Dubois Join Young D, Ayo Jay And Timaya On ‘Shabba’Presented by Power 105.1’s DJ Noire and One Nation Records.
Jamaican Dancehall star Konshens and Soca hitmaker Kerwin Dubois have joined forces with RCA Records-signed Nigerian Pop artist Ayo Jay, whose ‘Your Number’ featuring Fetty Wap sits on over 10 million plays on SoundCloud, fast-rising producer Young D and Afrobeats veteran Timaya, for the brand new international single ‘Shabba’, presented by Power 105.1’s DJ Norie and One Nation Records.
With Dancehall continuing to be one of the most dominant sounds in 2016, as everyone from Justin Beiber, Rihanna and Drake takes influences from the genre for their biggest singles this year, and Afrobeats quickly catching the attention of the world’s ears with the recent successes of the likes of Wizkid and Davido, ‘Shabba’ makes for a great moment for both sounds and cultures to amalgamate.
Produced by Young D, who is perhaps best know for being behind the massive Timaya and Sean Paul collaboration ‘Bum Bum’, ‘Shabba’ is an instantly infectious dance floor filler, backed by trademark 90’s Dancehall drums and melodic Afrobeats sensibilities, which sees Konshens, Ayo Jay, Kerwin Dubois and Timaya gelling beautifully, to deliver an unstoppable cross-over jam ready to conquer the summer.
