Chris Martin wins Best Visiting Performer In Zimbabwe
Jamaican reggae recording artiste Chris Martin has won another accolade, one which speaks to his growing reputation as a first-class performer.
The entertainer, who is about to release his brand-new album, Big Deal, was recently named the Best Visiting Performer by Zimbabwe’s Zimba Nice Online 2016 Music Awards. The awards recognises entertainers who have made significant impact on the country’s music scene.
Martin, who was up against fellow Jamaicans Jah Cure, Romain Virgo and Tanzanian entertainer, Diamond Platinumz, performed before a record crowd at the Glamis Arena in Harare on April 29. He thrilled the thousands of patrons with his collection of hits which have found fertile ground in that African nation.
Martin told THE STAR that the award caps what had been a good year for him and his team.
“It’s been a very good musical year for me. I’ve been appreciated for a lot of my works all over the world. This means a lot to me,” he said.
“It’s motivating me to continue on the path that I am on. To be selected as the Best Visiting Performer in Zimbabwe for 2016 out of every artiste anywhere in the world that has visited there means a lot.”
The Big Deal singer said he simply tries to do his best whenever he performs, so the award is important.
“Wherever I go, I give my all to my audience and leave it all on the stage with performances that will leave a lasting impression,” he said. “That’s how I operate. Every time I go onstage, I perform like it’ll be my last. Thank you, Zimbabwe and Zimba Nice awards.”
