Chino responds to Yendi, says he has not seen their child for several months
A day after word got out that his ex girlfriend and former Miss Jamaica Universe, Yendi Phillipps filed for full custody of their two-year-old daughter, Daniel 'Chino' McGregor is hitting back at the beauty queen turned media personality, insisting he is shocked by Phillipps' court action and has been denied access to their child for several months.
Phillipps filed the action in Supreme Court earlier this week, seeking full custody, care and control of their daughter, as well as JA$60,000 of child maintenance while asking McGregor to cover half of the child's medical and educational expenses. Additionally, she asked the court to grant McGregor access to the child twice a week for three hours as well as seven hours each weekend.
In response, McGregor issued a statement Thursday morning saying he has made multiple efforts to see their child, but with no success.
The statement read in part, "It is unfortunate that when relationships fail the child is often used as a pawn. I won't bash or give my opinions on the matter, I will only share facts. Firstly, and most importantly, I have not been able to see my daughter for almost five months."
"Calls and texts have gone unanswered; suitcases of toys and clothing have remained unopened because neither I nor my family have been able to gain access to my daughter. Secondly, my attorneys have tried on numerous occasions to reach an amicable resolution to the matter, particularly my visiting rights, all of which have been declined by her."
"Neither myself, nor my lawyer, nor any member of my team has been provided with the documents people keep talking about. Everyone definitely knows I am an extremely private person so I had hoped that in the interest of the child the matter would have been handled with sensitivity."
Phillipps herself spoke out on Wednesday after word of the custody suit got out, blasting the media for leaking the story without permission of consultation for her or her legal team.
No date has been set for a hearing on the matter.
