Cherine Set To Rock South Africa
Jamaican singer/songwriter Cherine Anderson takes her electrifying reggae dancehall-soul music to South Africa this month. The songstress will make her African debut in Johannesburg, South Africa on Saturday, September 26, 2015 for the 23rd Edition of the Arts Alive International Festival Urban Vibes Concert.
The Urban Vibes Concert is part of the Arts Alive month long celebrations and is geared towards the inner city and greater Johannesburg urban youths.
Always one to truly engage her fans, she has created a vlog series called Cherine's Duffle Bag Diaries which is an intimate online video journal giving fans the opportunity to meet her team, and observe her process in creating a special show for the South African fans. The series will premiere online on www.CherineTV.com this Sunday, September 13, 2015.
The Kingston native started her career as a child actress in the Jamaican film Dancehall Queen. She went on to co-star alongside Idris Elba and Kymani Marley in the award winning film One Love. It was while filming the latter that her musical talents emerged; writing and performing three songs for the film's soundtrack.
Cherine is the first Jamaican female artiste to hit the Billboard Rock Charts featured on the song "Say Hey" with Michael Franti. Her commanding voice coupled with her high energy live performances helped to place her on arena tours and renown festivals worldwide as both an opening and support act for alternative bands like Michael Franti & Spearhead, International rock stars John Mayer and Counting Crows to name a few. She has also toured with, and is endorsed by legendary drummer Sly Dunbar (Sly & Robbie) who hails her as 'the real deal.'
Cherine is close to completing her album, which is being produced by 20 Six Music Group and reggae legends Sly & Robbie, and will be debuting unreleased material from the album at the Urban Vibes Concert.
The concert also features performances from other bands and DJs including Kwesta, Tumi, Freshly Ground, Freeky, Kabomo, Fefe Cooper and Javinchi among other talented acts.
Tickets are available in Jo'burg South Africa from Computicket for R120.
