Benjamin - Gambia's Dancehall Emperor
It's an undisputed fact that Benjamin is one of the finest reggae dancehall acts ever to come out of The Gambia. His positive empowering lyrical style has enabled him to attract huge fan base over the years.
Suffice to state that his ability in the studio booth, on stage and on the mic are a clear manifestation of his endless talent in the genre.
Born Kawsu Ceesay, this rising star's musical career began since his childhood days. It was not a coincidence that he found himself in the center of a dancehall loving town-Brikama, which is home to some of the country's finest talents like -Rebellion D' Recaller, Hurricane, you name it.
However, Benjamin's ever-increasing fan base in the country in recent years is just amazing. The youths, elders and even reggae queens love his high up-lifting sounds. His prolific talent has enabled him to collaborate with some of the world-renowned stars especially those from Jamaican. As a keen music lover during his early age, he spends most of his time watching reggae music videos and listening to dancehall music.
This later motivated him, thus paving the way to discover his ability in the dancehall world. But it was not until when he turned 13 when he began to take more seriously. This period however marks a turning point in his life as it was at this age that he started to realize and decided to pursue his hidden talent and destiny.
A member of the Frontline Crew, a music movement that produces some of the Gambia's finest reggae dancehall stars, he quickly harnessed his talents before he became shinny star in the country. From then, the youngster took a giant step towards his dreams. The god gifted talented star no doubt has what it take make it in the international scene if supported. "I am called by the music and I have no option but to answer. Music is in my life," says Benjamin in one of his interviews. Benjamin's popularity has gone beyond the borders of this country and is widely known and featured in a number of collabo projects and in most of these projects he tops the chart with his melodious songs.
