Alkaline boost for DJ Sunshine's new rhythm
Dancehall producer DJ Sunshine is celebrating the overnight success of her latest rhythm, 'Fire Starta'.
The rhythm, released under her Yellow Moon Record label, has been receiving strong rotation in dancehall circles especially the single, Champion Boy recorded by dancehall artiste Alkaline.
Champion Boy has collectively received more than 200,000 views on YouTube since its premiere last week and is one of Alkaline's most popular songs.
DJ Sunshine, nominated for a producer of year award in 2014 for her 'Wul Dem' rhythm, told THE WEEKEND STAR the rhythm exceeded her expectations.
"We blast it about a week now because I was travelling. I was expecting it to blow up in about two weeks but within a day it went viral with persons putting up the name of the songs on their social media pages especially Champion Boy," she said.
The producer, who was also the target of copyright infringement last year after deejays decided to record on 'Wul Dem' without her permission, said this time around she will not release her instrumental to the public. She also highlighted that she will not be trying to duplicate the success of 'Wul Dem', but to grow with each production.
"'Fire Starta' and the 'Wul Dem' are in two different leagues, but they are two massive rhythms. I don't think of my previous success when I am working on projects because my main goal is to create quality music. Its all about the future because I try not to live in the past. It's about progression and growth," she said.
The 'Fire Start' rhythm features Mavado, Alkaline, I-Octane, Masicka, Beenie Man and OC G. The producer recently launched her Yellow Moon Foundation and has already executed street-feeding activities.
"I probably drop something else by December. You never know. I have so many ideas right now. Big up Red Boom, DJ Frass, Jordan and Izzle," she said.
